Liberty Trail Foundation was created from a simple idea: learning should go beyond the pages of a book.

We believe some of the most meaningful learning happens when kids can stand where history happened, explore new landscapes, experience different cultures and communities, and discover the world around them firsthand.

Liberty Trail Foundation is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to providing young people and families with opportunities to explore American history, geography, culture, civics, science, and the natural world through educational travel and hands-on experiences.

LTF was founded with an ambitious long-term goal: to experience all 50 states over a 10-year journey, with approximately five new states explored each year. Along the way, students visit historic sites, museums, state and national parks, monuments, government buildings, and other educational and culturally significant destinations that bring their studies to life.

In 2026, Liberty Trail Foundation officially began that journey, completing our first five states: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Montana. From walking along the Oregon Trail and exploring historic forts to touring a state capitol, venturing underground at Wind Cave, and digging like young paleontologists, our students have already experienced lessons that extend far beyond a traditional classroom.

As Liberty Trail Foundation continues to grow, our purpose remains the same: inspire curiosity, encourage a lifelong love of learning, strengthen connections between families, and help young people develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the country they call home.

We aren't simply checking states off a map. We're giving kids the opportunity to experience America, one adventure at a time.
